Who doesn’t love a cookout? It’s a time to get together, socialize and enjoy good food. In order to pull off a successful cookout, some must-needed parts are essential to make it happen. First you need a great group of people to invite. When you’re cooking out, it’s not just about the food you’re eating. It’s a lot about time together socializing and hanging out. Getting to know new friends better, a time to get together with old friends you don’t get to see often or it could be a family gathering.

A second ingredient is the menu. You want to have plenty of food available. The main dish can be hamburgers and hot dogs, or you can decide to go the route of grilling chicken or steak. The possibility are endless on the grill. Then you’ll want to have plenty of sides. Some good sides for a cookout include baked beans, pasta salad, potato chips and macaroni and cheese. If you are grilling hamburgers and hot dogs, don’t forget to have a plate with all the fixings – onions, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, chili, mustard and ketchup. Watermelon compliments a nice summer meal outside just perfectly. Plus, it can get a little messy and you’re already outside which works out. So this is definitely a must for any cookout!

With every entrée, there of course comes dessert afterwards. There are several dessert options for a cookout that are perfect, especially in the summertime. If there will be kids at the cookout a special treat after the meal is popsicles. These would be great to cool off a bit during a hot summer day outside. Another dessert perfect for a summer cookout is s’mores. There is no resisting a graham cracker sandwich with marshmallow and chocolate inside. Yummy!

Whether young or old, everyone at every age enjoys games. For children, bubbles and chalk are always fun activities. Also, don’t forget sunscreen and bug spray. Make this a summer to remember with some fun cookouts with friends and family!
